INSPIRE presented its activities at MicroplasticDays 2026, a scientific conference dedicated to microplastic research held from 3 to 5 February 2026 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The event brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to discuss the latest advances in microplastic science and potential solutions. It also served as a forum for sharing INSPIRE’s approach to addressing microplastic pollution in wastewater streams.
Jan Puhar from the University of Maribor (UM) presented the development and deployment of the cascade solution tested at the Domžale–Kamnik Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), one of the INSPIRE use cases. The presentation showcased the technology set-up and data collection methods used to conduct field trials.
The UM team presented results achieved in close collaboration with INSPIRE partners KTH, WNW, DELVEC, CLERA, INFOR, VLIZ, VITO, MINDS, as well as with an external stakeholder, the Domžale–Kamnik Wastewater Treatment Plant, where INSPIRE technologies are installed and tested.
INSPIRE’s contribution at MicroplasticDays highlighted the project’s commitment to collaborative innovation and to supporting evidence-based decision-making for plastic pollution reduction.
