General Description
The INSPIRE Impact Dashboard is an interactive web platform designed to monitor and communicate the progress of actions tackling riverine plastic pollution across Europe. Developed by Infordata Sistemi (INFOR) with support from project partners, it serves as the central digital hub for all INSPIRE data — from litter detection and collection campaigns to technology testing and benchmarking.
By consolidating information from diverse sources, the Dashboard transforms complex environmental and technical data into clear, visual insights through maps, graphs, and statistical summaries. It helps researchers, policymakers, and the public understand where and how solutions are reducing plastic waste in rivers.
The system integrates real-time telemetry from deployed technologies, collecting measurements such as turbidity, pH, conductivity, and chemical oxygen demand. This enables continuous performance monitoring and data-driven evaluation of innovative collection and prevention tools.
Fully aligned with FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), the Dashboard provides access to the Riverine Litter Database (RLDB) and ensures interoperability with European infrastructures like EMODnet and the European Digital Twin of the Ocean (EDITO).
Beyond its scientific role, the public-facing portal highlights measurable project impacts—such as the amount and type of litter collected, campaign coverage, and technology efficiency—making environmental progress visible and transparent.
